At Cordovo, we are very proud of our products and our transformative purpose. Cordovo offers authentic, premium-grade sustainable leather products inspired by the generational and contemporary era of times.
Lets us tell you more about our sustainable leather, how it is ethically sourced, and what we use to create the ultimate Cordovo products.
How is our leather sustainably sourced?
Our leather is sourced from Southeast Asian tanneries where leather is processed in high volume due to a large farming industry in operations. The majority of the tanneries’ leather is purchased from local farmers that raise animals as a source for food which has almost no environmental impact. Since our products are handcrafted, our industrial processes are sustainable with little to no effect on the environment. The tanning process used by the tanneries also includes recycled water and handcrafter traditional local practices.. Therefore, we take a pride in using by-product raw materials in the form of sustainable or ethical leather as the backbone of our business and success.
Why is our leather ‘’ethically-sourced”?
We choose to use the term “ethically sourced leather’’ as our leather is genuine, sourced through ecological and animal-friendly manners. All leather sourced is a by-product of the farming, agriculture and food industries. Our leather hides do not involve sanding, correctness, or split graining. The natural imperfections and blemishes in the top grain of the hide are often visible and not be confused with damage. The natural full-grain adds life and ruggedness to our pieces. Also, our leather does NOT contain any leather substitutes created from fossil fuel polyurethane (PU) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC- Vinyl), plant fibre, and other materials that require treatment with chemicals resulting in industrial waste.
At Cordovo, we are constantly committed to producing cruelty-free products and following environmentally sustainable leather tanning and preparation processes. As we continue to grow, we pledge to take steps forward in sustainability by sourcing materials that will further help us minimize our carbon footprint.
